Measure Twice, Preserve Once

The Jaybird Foundation recently partnered with Thomas Jefferson University’s School of Architecture & the Built Environment for a hands-on “Measure Day” at the Derrick Casselberry Property and sites within Evansburg State Park. Students worked on-site to collect detailed measurements, document existing conditions, and begin developing floor plans and models that will inform future adaptive reuse. This immersive experience provided valuable real-world learning while advancing preservation planning efforts. We are incredibly grateful for the students’ energy, curiosity, and thoughtful approach, and we look forward to seeing their creative ideas help shape the future of these historic spaces.
